9 grilled subs, each available in a steak or chicken version. Every one comes with white American cheese as the base, the differences come down to what's grilled in with it and which sauce shows up.
Quick answer: Most popular, Mike's Famous Philly. Spiciest, Big Kahuna and Chipotle varieties. Lightest, California Chicken Cheese Steak (not available everywhere).
Unlike the cold subs, hot subs don't come in a Mini size, they start at Regular. For a full breakdown of what that means for price and portion, see our Regular vs Giant comparison. Every hot sub is grilled to order, so expect a slightly longer wait than a cold sub, especially at busy lunch hours. Last checked August 2026.

●
Grilled onions, peppers and white American cheese
The default hot sub order, and the one most people mean when they say "cheesesteak" here. No sauce at all, just the grilled onions, peppers, and melted cheese.
#16
●
Grilled onions, peppers and white American cheese
Grilled chicken picks up the same sweet char from the onions and peppers as the steak version does, a bit less rich, still plenty flavorful.
#56
●●●
Grilled onions, peppers, mushrooms, jalapenos and extra white American cheese
The heat here comes straight from the jalapenos, not a sauce, mushrooms and a double layer of cheese round it out.
#55
●●●
Grilled onions, peppers, mushrooms, jalapenos and extra white American cheese
Chicken version of the Big Kahuna, same mushroom-and-jalapeno combination, lighter protein underneath it.
#43
●●●
Grilled onions, peppers, white American cheese and chipotle mayo
Different kind of heat than the Big Kahuna's jalapenos, this one's a smoky, creamy chipotle mayo instead of fresh pepper bite.
#42
●●●
Grilled onions, peppers, white American cheese and chipotle mayo
Chicken take on the Chipotle Cheese Steak. Same smoky mayo, without the heavier steak underneath.
#26
●
Applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, white American cheese and ranch dressing
No grilled onions or peppers on this one at all, it's built more like a warm chicken bacon ranch sandwich than a traditional cheesesteak.
#31
●
Lettuce, tomato, mayo, and white American cheese
The lightest hot sub on the list, and worth double-checking before you count on it, it's not available at all locations.
#44
●●
Frank's Red Hot Sauce, lettuce, tomato, white American cheese with blue cheese dressing
Vinegar-forward buffalo heat instead of the jalapeno or chipotle route, blue cheese dressing is built in, not optional.
The California Chicken Cheese Steak tends to run lightest, since it swaps grilled onions and peppers for lettuce and tomato. The Bacon Ranch version is close behind if it's available at your location, both skip the extra layer of cheese that comes standard on the Big Kahuna. Our calorie counts by sandwich page has the full item-by-item breakdown if you want exact numbers rather than a general comparison.
Every hot sub comes in both versions with identical toppings, so it really comes down to what you're craving. Steak versions are heartier and closer to a classic Philly cheesesteak. Chicken versions are lighter, without losing much of the flavor from whatever's grilled in or drizzled on top. If you've heard talk of off-menu combinations, that's covered on our secret menu page, and either version pairs well with something from the sides menu and the drinks menu.
